Solar technology converts solar light into electrical energy through photovoltaic panels or concentrator mirrors. This energy can be used to generate electricity or stored in batteries or thermal storage.

Solar radiation, also known as sunlight, emitted by the sun, is captured and transformed into useful forms of energy through solar technologies. There are two main types of solar energy technologies - photovoltaic and concentrating solar power (CSP).
 

Photovoltaic energy systems use solar panels to capture and convert sunlight into electricity. When the sun shines on a solar panel, photovoltaic cells absorb the light energy and transform it into electric charges, thus generating electric current.

Concentrating solar power (CSP) systems use mirrors to direct and concentrate solar light onto receptors, transforming it into heat. This heat can then be used to generate electricity or stored for later use, especially in large-scale power plants.

Integrating these systems into homes, businesses, and existing power grids is essential. Solar energy not only reduces electricity costs but also contributes to the resilience of the power grid, creates jobs, and stimulates economic growth. It provides a backup energy source in emergency situations and can operate efficiently both at an individual and community level.
